This Professional Proficiency Work aims to evaluate the impact of the acquisition costs of imports on the profitability of a textile company, which is dedicated to the purchase and sale of textile products for use in clothing and wishes to know the real cost of the items. of its imports with the purpose of meeting its objectives, such as remaining in the market and improving its market share through competitive prices. For this, semi-structured interviews were carried out with the General Manager, Accountant and representative of the Customs Agency. Likewise, the work sheets of the general manager and the accountants were analyzed. As a result of the interviews and documentary analysis, the following findings were found. The General Manager costs his items at his own discretion and prorates all disbursements incurred in the import process including recoverable taxes. However, the accounting standard (IAS 2) requires other guidelines to determine the acquisition cost of inventories where, for example, amounts that will be recoverable (IGV, collection) are excluded. On the other hand, the personnel who carry out the accounting, an outsourcing area, apply criteria from the tax standard to identify the costs of each import acquisition; Let's take the example of those transactions that do not have support because they were carried out with a supplier that does not issue receipts (ASETRAM). In this sense, three alternative solutions were evaluated to resolve the problematic situation: Variable costing method, Gross Profit method and García's import costing model (2022). The chosen proposal is the variable costing method since it represents in a timely and complete manner the economic transactions of the organization and allows sensitivity analysis to be carried out to evaluate scenarios in accordance with the strategies that the company wishes to implement to achieve its objectives.
