The Cañete River basin presents one of the greatest challenges in natural risk management due to the lack of an effective early warning system for extreme weather events, such as heavy rains, which lead to flash floods and landslides. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to evaluate the types of riparian defense according to their characteristics throughout the Cañete River basin, in order to determine which typology would be ideal. Therefore, to carry out their research, they evaluated the geomechanically characteristics of 4 types of defense: defense with geotextile protection in rockfill, defense with hillside rockfill protection, defense with rockfill protection with protected backsplash, and defense with wall-type rockfill protection. After that, the configuration of the rock filling was evaluated at the level of materials and the construction process that each defense entails and finally the cost and time involved in their execution were evaluated. It was obtained from the results that in the aspect of property characterization it was possible to identify that the defenses with rockfill protection with backings have a greater admissible capacity with an average value of 525.80 kPa, likewise the construction process is not very complex. However, in the evaluation of construction management it can be said that defenses with geotextile protection are less expensive and entail a shorter execution time.
