The purpose of this research paper is to provide the required criteria and to generate interest in debris flow modeling, which is applied to a case study in the Pedregal ravine, through its simulation in a commercial software that allows flow analysis with high volume concentration rates. The generated model is a two-dimensional mathematical model, proposed by O'Brien, that allows to work with non-Newtonian fluids; and it tolerates complex orography, as well as urban areas. In this simulation, it was possible to generate water flows and hyperconcentrated flows, getting as a result, elevations graphs, flows velocities and flood heights. For the Pedregal ravine study, three (03) simulation scenarios were generated for a return period (Tr) of 100 years. The initial scenario simulates the movements of flows in a natural course, the next one simulates the displacement of the flows in the current condition, it means, with the existing structures found in the field; finally, the simulation of three (03) mitigation proposed structures in the quebrada was evaluated, considering reducing losses as an objective. Finally, the purpose of this report is to give a contribution to the study and evaluation of existing debris flows in Lurigancho-Chosica district, to raise awareness about the existing dangers; and awakening the interest in society to mitigate natural events impact on infrastructure, and the population.
