There are several factors that affect the stability of a slope. Slope failure results in mass movements and could cause human deaths and economic losses. The purpose of this thesis is to propose a reinforced soil wall design for the stabilization of slopes in the “Refugio del Valle Ecological Condominium” project - Huancayo. In the project there are designs of structures such as gravity retaining walls and gabion retaining walls. However, in this research, reinforced soil walls are proposed as a viable solution. The stability of the natural slope was analyzed by the Morgenstern-Price method. Three sections were selected for analysis and laboratory tests were performed to obtain soil properties. Section 1 turned out to be the most critical section, so the design was carried out considering this section. The design of the reinforced soil wall was carried out considering the allowable stress design methodology proposed by the United States Federal Highway Administration. In addition, a comparative analysis was carried out between reinforced soil walls, gravity retaining walls and gabion retaining walls. It is concluded that the proposal of the reinforced soil wall allows stabilizing the slope, since the safety factors obtained in the analysis of internal stability, external stability and global stability are greater than the minimum required, both for the static and pseudo-static condition. Furthermore, the proposal is a viable solution for the Project.
