The purpose of this research work is to reduce the number of cyclist-vehicle conflicts on Av. Tupac Amaru between Av. Tomás Valle and Carlos Izaguirre. It is proposed to reduce the problem through a bicycle lane design. The solution design began with the delimitation, description, and data collection of the study area. Then, the behavior of cyclists and drivers in the study area was characterized. Subsequently, the current state was represented through a micro-simulation model which was calibrated and validated. From this, a design of a cycle path was proposed based on a reduction in conflicts with the SSAM tool Conflicts at the first intersection evaluated were reduced from 896 to 896 while at the second intersection, they were reduced from 1,339 to 1,123. The implementation of the cycle lane proved to be a solution that increases the safety of cyclists since the number of cyclist-vehicle conflicts was reduced by more than 200. This means that the proposal model is validated with respect to this parameter, since its validation depended on reducing the number of cyclist-vehicle conflicts by at least 200.
