This paper focuses on the application of a process management methodology in the Public Works and Urban Development Department of the Daniel Alcides Carrión provincial municipality. The methodology used for the development of the work is qualitative, with a phenomenological design, which allows an exhaustive analysis of the process management problems and their possible solutions. The central problem addressed is the inefficiency in the elaboration of requirements by the collaborators of the Works and Urban Development Management, which leads to delays and reprocesses in the requests for the acquisition of goods, contracting of services and execution of works. To solve this problem, a documentary review and analysis of the Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies was carried out. Based on this, the best methodological practices were identified for their adaptation to the municipality. The results reveal the need to adopt a qualitative methodology based on Lean Six Sigma - DMAIC for process management improvement. Also, the application of this methodology includes the training of personnel in order to reduce errors in the elaboration of requirements. In conclusion, this work of professional sufficiency demonstrates the feasibility of applying a continuous improvement methodology in the process management of the Public Works and Urban Development Department. This methodology has the potential to reduce costs, improve efficiency and meet the needs of the population in a timely manner, thus contributing to the sustainable development of the municipality.
