Currently, Peru is in a constant growth in the demand for tower cranes, due to the fact that, in the last decade, the height of buildings has increased reaching up to 30 floors, being indispensable for the successful execution of the project. However, our country does not have a regulation or guide detailing an adequate planning process to improve the management of this machinery and guarantee its correct use. The purpose of this research work is to create a guide of good practices schematized by a BIM digital representation addressed to construction engineers to obtain the essential knowledge about the planning of implementing a tower crane in building projects over 15 stories. This experimental methodology was applied using information gathering tools to specialists and main crane tower suppliers in Peru: ETAC, AGRUMAQ and GALIGRÚ, which allowed obtaining the improvement processes and good practices that were organized in the proposed document. This guide was evaluated through Expert Judgment by means of a qualification rubric in order to receive the validity of specialized professionals and verify its quality. The results obtained showed that 80% of the experts approve the good practices proposed in the guide by rating them with the highest score. In addition, the proposed validation allowed to know that this good practices guide would improve the crane tower planning by the constructor by receiving 100% approval by specialist professionals.
