The present research aims to improve road safety at the intersection of Jr. Arequipa-Jr. Huancavelica, located in the city of Abancay, with the help of Road Safety Inspection (RSI) and the Analysis of Road Safety Perception of users, which have been successfully carried out in several countries around the world as preventive measures to improve the performance and use of intersections. For this reason, a review of the methodologies to be carried out was conducted. First, the methodology for evaluating the safety of the infrastructure in the case under study was carried out, using RSI, through the checklist tool. Then, the analysis of the Road Safety Perception of users at the intersection was carried out, using survey tools. The results showed that the selected area has deficiencies in road safety, especially among schoolchildren and street vendors who are part of the vulnerable user group. It was also observed that the design of the road prioritizes vehicular traffic and neglects pedestrian-oriented design. Additionally, there is a perceived lack of commitment from authorities to maintain safe roads. Based on these findings, improvement proposals are proposed through 3D modelling. Said proposals have been leaded with the purpose of reducing the possibility of road accidents. The proposed measurs include the slow speed cushiong implementation, enlargement of the turning radius, crosswalks at pedestrian level, adapt parking spaces for the type of vehicle that does not interrupt the vehicular flow, guard rails, vertical and horizontal signage. In this way, we provide to users a safe urban design at the intersections. Finally, the current situation is compared to the improvements to present conclusions and recommendations, according to the objectives set out in our study
