Poverty is usually measured by the income received by individuals. However, the poor also express their condition through deprivations such as not having drinking water in their homes and/or not having good health care. It is for this reason, and under Sen's theory of capabilities, that the multidimensional poverty indicator was created to measure the number of individuals who are poor due to the lack or deprivation of these services. For Peru, several researchers developed the indicator for the Peruvian case, including more dimensions than the original one. The levels of multidimensional poverty in Peru are higher than those of monetary poverty; however, studies indicate that both approaches should be complementary, since they are sensitive to different shocks. Likewise, studying both approaches and their relationship is important for more effective policies to reduce monetary poverty and multidimensional poverty levels. For this reason, it is proposed to study the relationship between the two approaches using ordinary least squares regression, as well as to analyze the incidence of being monetarily poor and being multidimensionally poor using a Probit model. Likewise, it is also proposed to analyze the incidence of the indicators of multidimensional poverty. For this, socioeconomic indicators will be created with the National Household Survey for the years 2019 to 2022. The results indicate that both approaches present a positive and significant relationship, and that the incidence of the approaches and indicators varied over time.
