The construction sector is characterized mainly by maintaining a high variability, for that a constant cost control is required to ensure the profit of the projects, which is a challenge for private companies. Currently, different controls are used, such as cost control, quality assurance, time control, risk control, safety, and communications to maintain the established objectives at the beginning of the project. The reality is that month to month there are constant fluctuations and higher consumption that couldn’t been planned at the beginning. The Operational Result is a methodology used for cost control of construction projects, since it achieves through its economic reports to expose the monthly results of the different areas involved in the execution of the project, reports the variation of the initial profit margin, has control and information on sales and costs of both the accumulated, the projection and the total work at the end of the project. The authors of this investigation propose a redesign in the current process of this methodology, by implement a weekly cost evaluation with a 4-week projection. This proposal will make it possible to control the deviations that have occurred during the week and make strategic decisions immediately without waiting for the usual monthly evaluation. This investigation concluded as: The methodology of the Operational Result with a weekly evaluation achieved to be very efficient, corrective measures were taken prevailing quality and good use of resources added to productivity and cost control of the project, reflected in the result obtained profit margin of + 0.48%. That said, it is demonstrated that with the weekly evaluation it is possible to obtain a better cost control, guaranteeing the use of resources and the profitability of the project.
