Introduction: The cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is a common cause of death and disability around the world and one of the most frequent deaths from neurological causes. This investigation work has shown that there exist different factors associated with it. However, not all sociodemographic and clinic factors are associated with the CVA deaths. Objectives: To determine the factors associated with cerebrovascular accident (CVA) as a cause of death in adults over 60 years of age who died of neurological causes in the period from January 2017 to December 2019 in Peru. Methods: A cross-sectional analytical observational study was carried out in which the factors associated with the registry of cerebrovascular accident (CVA) as a cause of death in patients who died from neurological causes during the years 2017-2019 in Peru were estimated. Descriptive statistics were performed presenting the percentages for each variable. Subsequently, bivariate hypothesis testing analyzes were performed to assess the association between stroke death and each of the factors of interest. Finally, to assess the association between death from stroke and the associated factors, Poisson regression models with robust variances were generated. Results: 3074 records of deaths from stroke and other neurological causes were analyzed. The male sex predominated 59.2%. The most frequent age range was 60-70 years. In the coastal region, mortality was 51.5%. More than half died in a health facility (54.7%). The most frequent comorbidity that they presented for all neurological causes were respiratory diseases (17.5%). Discussion: These results coincide with those of other investigations in relation to the sex that presents higher mortality, type of CVA and arterial hypertension as a comorbidity. The age differs slightly due to the different selection of the sample. Evidence is provided that allows drawing conclusions for the improvement of strategies in health care. Conclusions: The factors associated with mortality from stroke were the age range of 71-80 years and 81-90 years, the female sex, the place of death within the health facility, a history of arterial hypertension, cardiac and neurological pathology.
