The study considers the improvement in external corrosion that presented itself in the high-pressure steel pipes installed in the distribution system, the same ones that were identified in the infrastructure integrity assessment process after 7 years of operation. To this end, technical gaps were identified, where it was identified according to international NACE that corrosion costs represent 3.4 % on average globally vs 13.4% that comes recording Cálidda of expenditures of its annual budget in OPEX. The year 2021, after the assessment carried out it was decided to carry out 99 apiques (excavations) to repair the external corrosion that was being recorded, the cost of the repair was S/. 2.73 MM. The repair activities allowed us to identify 433 events which could be grouped to identify the 5 root causes occasioning the corrosion problems. It was then identified through method improvement, change management and standardization that the Epoxy paint application procedure has 16 steps of which 5 have an impact on the root causes of the problem which in the case are improved is decreased and/ or eliminates identified root causes; likewise, it was identified that additional indirect assessments could be implemented after completing the works and after 1.5 years in order to identify indications of external corrosion that could be repaired by the contractor who caused the problem during the warranty period of his works; with it, no costs will be occasioned to Cálidda. Finally, validation was carried out through a pilot which allowed to validate that the proposal is technically and commercially viable.
