The present research sought to understand the life’s meaning through creative values in hardcore musician composers. Life’s meaning, musical composition and subcultures show a relationship that has been insufficiently studied, and that shows how young people form and articulate meaning from a particular human activity. Likewise, from a psychology existential perspective as well as from the music psychology and ethnopsychology, the studies cover an overview that has to do with musical prejudices and stereotypes associated with young people. Thus, 8 composer-musicians were interviewed using the conversational systems strategy. The results indicate that the participants found a tool and activity that generates motivations, identities and transcendence that are articulated in a sense of life that orients the personality. It is concluded that the experience of making music could be a psychological tool for hardcore musicians because people who reach the so-called subculture, go through situations of suffering or personal adversity. In that sense, music generates different psychological tools and motivations to face them, however, these are questioned by the context where it is developed, the ethics and its aesthetics in comparison with other cultural proposals. In sum, making music becomes a tool of protective factor and even, of contribution, for mental health professionals, because it shows how to combat prejudices about young people, observe the complexity of human activities in life’s meaning and generate useful tools for psychological practice.
