The present study is developed based on the districts of Churcampa, San Miguel de Mayocc and La Merced in the department of Huancavelica. Districts with a mainly agricultural economy, with rugged topography ideal for water reservoirs and a potential agricultural area of 1,378 hectares. However, it was shown that these communities do not generate enough crop production to supply their per capita food demand in more than 50% of the main crops in the location, which added to the high poverty rates, generates food insecurity and malnutrition among its inhabitants. To face this situation, a transfer and regulation of water was proposed, and the water supply is evaluated through humid, average and dry scenarios, which are represented by 20%, 50% and 80% persistence respectively. As part of an integrating analysis between water resources and food production, we worked under the framework of the water-food nexus, in which for each scenario of volume supplied, the respective food production is analyzed in tons per year. In this way, it was identified that the ratio with the highest yield occurs in the average scenario in which 960 tons of food are produced for every million cubic meters of water supplied. It was verified that the transfer and regulation of water allows the increase in the volume of water supply with which enough food is produced to satisfy the demand for self-consumption, even in the most unfavorable scenario (dry scenario). It was also shown that for average and humid scenarios it is possible to generate an agricultural economy based on the sale of rotational crops such as avocado, corn, potato, and yucca.
