This research work addresses the issue of sexism representation in the Latin American Spanish dubbing of the television series The Boys. The primary objective of this study is to analyze how gender dynamics and sexist attitudes presented in the original American English version are translated and adapted to the Latin American Spanish version. To achieve this objective, an extensive review of existing literature in the field of sexism and audiovisual translation is conducted to contextualize the topic and comprehend the implications of sexism in media. The research methodology employed consists of content analysis and comparative analysis between the original version of The Boys and its Latin American Spanish adaptation. Specifically, the study examines the dialogues and translation strategies utilized in the dubbing process, with particular emphasis on the representation of gender stereotypes and sexist discourses. The findings of this research reveal the diverse approaches employed in addressing sexism within the Latin American Spanish dubbing of The Boys. The study aims to determine whether the phenomenon of sexism has been mitigated, perpetuated to a certain extent, or exacerbated. Additionally, the investigation identifies modifications in dialogues, cultural adaptations, and performance adjustments that may influence the portrayal of gender equality in the final version.
