This research paper analyzes the forms of discursive representation of multiculturalism through advertising jingles during the context of Peru's Bicentennial celebrations based on a comparative study between commercial and state promotion. Despite having the same objective, "¡HoyDiaTeCanto, Perú!" by Claro and "Si nos unimos" by the Peruvian government, belong to two different perspectives in advertising (commercial and governmental, respectively). This disparity is useful to analyze how multiculturalism was represented through music in each case. The approach used is qualitative, framed in an interpretative paradigm. Content analysis was used as a technique to interpret how the semantic components of the jingle and the forms of multicultural representation through it function. The research compared the advertising jingles of Claro and the Government, finding similarities in the way of addressing multiculturalism but differences in the musical and semantic aspect that characterizes the individualist and collectivist discourses. The findings expand knowledge about the differences and similarities between public and private advertising based on the analysis of musical discourse.
