Objective: We sought to specify the factors associated with post-traumatic stress symptoms in Facebook users in the city of Lima in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in the period 2021. Methodology: Cross-sectional-analytical study, the study population was adults. who live in Lima, use the social network Facebook and whose age range is 18 years or older. The demonstrated one is not probabilistic for convenience and was carried out through a survey through Facebook. The Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview questionnaire was used, from which the modules that evaluated PTSD were considered. For the statistical analysis, Poisson Regression with robust variance was applied, in which PR was valued with a 95% CI. Results: We found a statistically significant association between the history of a family member with COVID-19, a family member admitted to the ICU due to COVID-19, and a family member who died from COVID-19 and the presence of PTSD symptoms, after adjusting for sex and age. As secondary results, a statistically significant association was found between the female sex and the existence of PTSD symptoms. Likewise, 18% of the sample presented PTSD. Conclusion: the history of a family member with COVID-19, a family member admitted to the ICU due to COVID-19, and a family member who died from COVID-19 were associated with the existence of PTSD symptoms. We recommend carrying out future research, since it is essential to analyze in other studies how long PTSD symptoms can persist, as well as adding other types of variables related to the subject such as socioeconomic level, drug use, professions.
