In the current context, water is the most important natural resource for the development of life on the planet, being a fundamental element both for living beings and for the development of economic sectors. Hotels play a fundamental role as they have significant savings potential, which can in turn make the hotel establishments themselves more profitable. It is estimated that water consumption represents an average of 10% of the fixed costs of a hotel. In addition, 15% of a hotel's energy consumption comes from the use of hot water, according to data from the European project Hotel Energy Solution. In addition to generating a lot of foreign currency in the countries, it causes the mobilization of masses, who as tourists have a higher cost of water than a resident in their country. Hotels, being aware of the impact of their activities, have action plans to reduce, when more, their water footprint. In this sense, the methodology used was the literature review with an integrative approach, since it was identified that there are various academic publications such as theses, academic articles and books that address issues related to the efficient use of water in the hotel sector. For this reason, the present work will be focused on identifying the contribution of the hotel sector in the commitment to water care, since it is known thanks to the different investigations that the hotel sector has a very high probability of having contributed to the current water problem.
