The purpose of this research was to analyze the relationship between fonts inspired by the illiterate cultures (Inca and Māori) Quincha created by Diego Sanz (2010), Runasimi by Gustavo Alayza (2013), and Whakarare by Johnson Whitehira (2015) with their graphic representation and iconographic elements that have served as support for its creation. Likewise, it was hypothesized that the elements used in the creation of typefaces inspired by illiterate cultures reflect cultural frameworks where the identity, history and collective memory of a culture are recognized. A qualitative approach of descriptive scope was used and the Panofsky method was applied to analyze the inspirational elements, where the superficial characteristics were analyzed and the artistic motifs and their relationship with the historical concepts of their respective cultures were identified. In addition, visual analysis tables were made for the sources and interviews with experts in typography and art history. It was concluded that the elements on which the analyzed typefaces are based convey and graphically represent the Inca and Māori culture because these elements used in the creation of the selected typefaces reflect the characteristics of those cultures.
