The present investigation tries to replicate the behavior of a confined masonry wall with lateral loading. The numerical model of the experimental walls of the thesis “Ensayos cíclicos en muros de albañilería confinada construidos con ladrillo King Kong de fabricación industrial” carried out by Coral (2017) in the ABAQUS software is presented, in order to obtain results in the structure : capacity curve and pattern of cracks. The main objective is to propose a macro-modeling of the confined masonry wall that gives results similar to reality. Also, define the properties of the wall materials and the confining elements, as well as their constitutive laws. The confined masonry wall was modeled in the ABAQUS software and the properties of both the materials and the conditions to which it was subjected were calibrated. This model was validated by Pushover analysis. Consequently, the results of the capacity curve and fissure patterns obtained from the numerical wall were compared with the experimental wall. Finally, with the results, it is concluded that using Young's modulus ( E ) at 65% of the masonry there is a similar linear behavior, the tensile strength ( tf ) was iterated until reaching 1.05 MPa, since this governs the part non-linear of the wall capacity curve, and the fracture energy ( Gf ) was reduced to 0.10 MPa to obtain a cracking pattern similar to the experimental wall.
