Objective: Evaluate the association between anxiety due to coronavirus and the presence of symptoms of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in medical students from third to fifth year at a private university in Lima during the year 2022. Material and methods: Analytical cross-sectional study, carried out during January and April of the year 2022, in university students of a private university in Lima. The Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS) was used to assess coronavirus anxiety and the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) to identify the presence of OCD symptoms. In the multivariate analysis, generalized linear models of the Poisson family were used to obtain the crude and adjusted prevalence ratios, and 95% confidence intervals were reported. Results: A sample of 147 participants was obtained. The average age was 20,9 years, with the female sex being slightly higher (56.46%). Of the total sample, 48.98% presented anxiety due to coronavirus and 56.46% symptoms of OCD. Students who presented coronavirus anxiety had 2.6 times the probability of having OCD symptoms, compared to students who did not have coronavirus anxiety (RPa=2.61; 95% CI: 1.80 - 3.79). Conclusions: A statistically significant association was found between coronavirus anxiety and the presence of OCD symptoms in medical students from third to fifth year at a private university in Lima during the year 2022.
