Mining currently plays an important role in society in economic and business terms, but the problem lies in the fact that there are no international or state policies to ensure that it is developed in an environmentally friendly manner. Therefore, the objective of this paper was to find the positions of the different authors on how an efficient ecological management allows a good mining activity. Likewise, this research, which includes reading, analysis and synthesis of 30 articles, sought to compare the authors´ positions on ecological management as a development factor in mining regions. These comparisons cover four sub-themes: ecological management, mining legislation and artisanal and small-scale mining activity (ASM), sustainability and deep mining. The methodology used was qualitative and quantitative, especially exploratory and narrative documents. Some of the most important findings were, on the one hand, seabed mining, which stands out as a new business alternative that will displace conventional mining, and, on the other hand, the reuse of mining waste as an option to make the most of resources. Finally, the use of technology and photographic applications to be used as a monitoring tool to see the consequences caused by mining was highlighted. It was concluded that the purpose of ecological management is to accelerate the recovery of a damaged ecosystem for its subsequent use in agricultural, forestry, industrial or urban activities.
