The main objective of this thesis is to understand how intellectual capital intervenes in the internationalization of PYMES companies that export pisco in Peru during the period 2017-2021. The study was based on national and international background and theoretical contributions, such as knowledge-based theory and resource and capacity theory, which allowed for a better understanding of the research topic. Likewise, categories of the variable “intellectual capital (IC)“ to “human capital (IC)“, “structural capital (CE)“ and “relational capital (CR)“ were established. The methodology used was based on a qualitative approach with the design of the grounded theory. In this research work, 20 semi-structured interviews were conducted with experts on issues related to intellectual capital and SMEs that export pisco. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, coded, and analyzed using the Atlas Ti software. On the other hand, the results achieved allowed us to respond to the specific objectives set, to find findings and draw up conclusions and recommendations. Finally, it is concluded that intellectual capital has a significant role in the internationalization of exporting SMEs, however, the results have shown that the staff of SME exporters is not fully trained, they lack the knowledge and skills necessary to enter new markets.
