Background: Food insecurity has been most evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of our study was to explore the factors associated with the food security situation in the adult population between 18 and 65 years of age in Lima during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional quantitative study was carried out through an online survey of 402 adults from Lima during November 2020-February 2021. The Latin American and Caribbean Food Security Scale was used. Poisson-type GLM multivariate model using the Stepwise Backward Selection technique based on a value of p <0.05. Results: It was found that 61.9% were women, 39% were heads of household, and 51% had a reduction in income during the pandemic. Likewise, 65.2% of those surveyed presented food insecurity. The regression analysis found a significant association for households residing in the upper district segment (PR: 0.72 95% CI: 0.55-0.93) compared to the lower segment, being the head of the household demonstrated (PR: 1 .18 IC95%: 1.03-1.35) compared to those who are not and households with people who had a decrease in income during the pandemic evidence (PR: 1.40 IC95%: 1.02-1, 93) compared with households where there were members who increased their income.
