It is known that, in order to carry out a building project, it is necessary to carry out a good soil mechanics study to understand the behavior of the soil with undisturbed samples, which are the ones that most closely resemble the soil in situ. However, many companies use remoulded samples, thus ignoring the existing variation of the geotechnical parameters that are obtained in the laboratory when using unaltered and remoulded samples, resulting in oversizing of the foundation structures by underestimating the soil. Therefore, the present investigation focuses on determining the percentage variation of the geotechnical parameters of resistance to shear of a clay soil of a building in the district of Chorrillos, Lima. To obtain the variation between undisturbed and remoulded samples, classification and resistance tests of the soil under study were carried out in the laboratory, of which, with the moisture content and volumetric weight tests in the undisturbed samples, the necessary parameters were obtained to reconstitute the remoulded samples and, in this way, carried out the direct shear tests on both types of samples from which, the cohesion and friction angle parameters were obtained. As a result, it was obtained that the geotechnical parameters of resistance to shear of the remoulded samples present values of up to 33.33% less than the undisturbed samples with regard to cohesion and values of up to 20.20% less, with regard to the friction angle.
