The purpose of this study was to prepare a systematic review of studies on the prevalence of burnout syndrome applied to teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. The databases used were Scopus, Web of Science and the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo). A total of eigth investigations that met the previously established methodological quality criteria were selected. As a result, it found that most of the investigations elaborated with the Maslach Burnout Inventory, and the interpretation of the burnout syndrome was differentiated, finding an evaluation based on a global score and according to its dimensions. The values obtained varied depending on the sample and study context. Specifically, university teachers showed higher levels of burnout syndrome unlike school teachers. The systematic review determined that during the COVID-19 pandemic, teachers experienced burnout syndrome. Based on this result, it is pertinent to prioritize prevention and/or intervention strategies to reduce this syndrome.
