Fair trade is a certification system that has become very popular in recent years, due to its popularity in providing equal treatment to small producers belonging to the countries of the South with respect to the traditional trade system. In addition, thanks to trade agreements, Peru has gained access to new demanding markets, positioning quality agro-export products such as coffee. As a result, the country has managed to position itself as the world's leading exporter of organic and fair trade coffee. Considering the great importance of fairtrade certification, this research takes the direction of analyzing it in the exports of green coffee beans from the department of San Martin to Germany, during the period 2011-2020, taking into account the productivity and family income of producers. Using a qualitative approach, descriptive scope and grounded theory design, information was collected through the execution of seventeen semi-structured interviews with representatives of coffee exporting cooperatives in the region, representatives of public and private entities, and experts on the topic of study. From the analysis and contrast with the state of the art, the results indicate that a certification system promotes the adoption of good agricultural practices, allowing good productivity to be obtained, reflected in an exportable coffee. Likewise, the income obtained by farmers for producing a product under this seal motivates them to continue improving their productive performance, but this depends on the organizational management of their cooperatives.
