Introduction: Burnout Syndrome (BS) or professional exhaustion has a high prevalence among health workers and constitutes a risk factor for the development of psychiatric diseases. In addition to its impact on the quality of patient care, it may be aggravated in the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The objective of the study was to evaluate, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the association of SB and its three dimensions with the self-perception of labor productivity in health workers of a hospital III in the central highlands of Peru. Material and Methods: 364 health workers were surveyed randomly and anonymously. The independent variable (Burnout syndrome) was measured using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) questionnaire and the response variable was measured by a rapid instrument for evaluating the productivity of workers during a working day. In the bivariate analysis, it was decided to use Fisher's exact test or Chi2 for categorical variables; and for the numerical one, since it had a normal distribution, the Student's t-test was used. Due to the prevalence value obtained from self-perception of low productivity, the prevalence ratio (PR) was used as a risk measure, first showing raw values and then adjusted (PRa) to potential confounding variables with a confidence interval (CI) at 95 %. Multivariate analysis was performed to identify associated factors using Poisson regression in STATA v 15. Results: The RPa of the SB was 0.42% CI95% (0.24-0.72), of the dimension high emotional exhaustion 0.65% CI95%(0.49-0.83), high depersonalization 0.62 % CI95%(0.46-0.84), low and moderate personal achievement 1.60% CI95%(1.31-1.96) and 1.43% CI95%(1.15-1.77), respectively; they are associated with the self-perception of low labor productivity, whose prevalence was 56.5% CI 95% (51.5-61.6). In addition, 10 variables were associated with the self-perception of low labor productivity. Conclusions: There is an association between SB with the self-perception of low labor productivity in health workers of a third-level hospital in the central highlands of Peru. Also, 57 out of 100 hospital workers had low labor productivity.
