Objectives: To determine the risk factors associated with inadequate prenatal care (ANC) in adolescent pregnancy (AD) in Peru. Materials and methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out according to the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES) 2019 in women with AD, which is defined as the gestation that occurs between 10 and 19 years old. The “inadequate CPN” variable was categorized as Yes/No, having as a definition a value of "Yes" less than six CPN and "No ”, Six or more CPNs, as provided by the Ministry of Health (MINSA). The series of "svy" commands was used and the complex samples module was applied. The Poisson regression was used, both crude and adjusted. Results: We analyzed data from 2,892 women between 12 and 24 years old. In the adjusted model, it was found that 12 to 14 year olds had three times higher probability of having an inadequate CPN. Also, living in the capital and the town increased the probability of having an inadequate CPN and speaking other native languages increased it by almost 90% (PR: 1,93; CI: 1,41-2,63; p = 0,00); while speaking a foreign language had a 2.48 higher probability. Being illiterate increased the probability of having an inadequate CPN by 65% (PR: 1,65; CI: 1,22-2,24; P=0,00); while having a previous cesarean section was a protective factor (RP: 0,74; IC: 0,58 – 0,95; p =0,02). Conclusions: there are factors associated with inadequate CPN in Peruvian mothers with AD, so we recommend the creation of strategies that help improve gynecological-obstetric care for pregnant teenagers.
