The purpose of this study is to analyze the perception of colorism, a type of racism enfolded in skin color, in women’s ethnic representation in advertising due to an industry focused on showing unrepresentative and unreachable feminine beauty models. The approach of this investigation is qualitative with a phenomenological design that analyzes Covergirl’s campaign #IAmWhatIMakeUp. Furthermore, semi-structured interviews were held considering folklore music dancers from ages 20 to 29 from the center of Lima as participants. The main finding related to the perception of the participants about ethnic representation is that this has little variety, not only in an ethnic way but also in the activities and roles in which these women are featured. Moreover, publicists may represent the diversity of beauty in women taking into consideration all different skin colors.
