Metalworking is one of the economic activities that has been in constant growth in Peru in recent years. This growth has caused companies in this area to seek for specialized machines such as milling machines with computerized numerical control systems in order to improve their manufacturing processes and therefore their productivity. However, many of these industrial level machines are out of the reach for medium and small companies in the field due to the high cost or the size of these machines. So in many cases companies and workshops decide to buy DIY machines that are small and cheap. However, these CNCs do not have the degree of precision to be able to carry out more complex jobs. For this reason, this study designs and implements a low-cost semi-industrial CNC vertical milling center with three degrees of freedom that is capable of machining non-ferrous metals. In order for the machine to have greater precision, a lower acquisition cost, work in a wider range of materials and reduce manual work. The final product is a CNC milling center that can machine soft metals such as aluminum, copper, etc. Likewise, the design and manufacture of a workstation for the CNC allows an easy transport of the machine and monitoring of the manufacturing process. Finally, the hardware and software are implemented according to standards and good mechanics, electricity and electronics practices.
