Television is one of the most important media today. Through their different content and programs, they offer the viewer an image and a representation of the reality in which they live. Although the spectators are not simple passive beings that when they see this representation imitate all the attitudes that are spread in it, they do learn about the culture and society in which they are immersed. The way in which television represents the female image has been observed and criticized for many years, since it was argued that the image presented was very poor, unrealistic and highly stereotyped. This was reflected in the aspects of a woman's character, her work performance, her role as a housewife and, above all, the importance and social value that the aspect of physical beauty has in them. One of the television formats that lends itself to this kind of discourse where the image of women is excessively discussed and criticized is in the entertainment programs that are broadcast in Peru. The communicators who present these programs dedicate themselves to pointing out, offending and making fun of the physical appearance of women who do not meet the hegemonic standard. This has been defined in 2012 as “aesthetic violence“ by Esther Pineda. Through this research, we are in charge of investigating the relationship and influence of television on the problem of aesthetic violence, and how this affects female viewers.
