This research seeks to estimate and compare erosion rates in the Cañete River Basin using the RUSLE spatial model. In recent years, the area has been vulnerable to meteorological phenomena, such as the El Niño phenomenon (2017). For the RUSLE (Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation) model, data on precipitation, temperature, soil types, topography and vegetation cover were first obtained from different satellite sources. Then, the sub-basins are divided and the factors R, K, LS, C and P are calculated. As a last step, the equation that provides the result of hydric erosion for each sub-basin is made. It has been shown throughout the study that the factors R (rainfall erosivity) and LS (length and slope of the slopes) have greatest influence on the hydric erosion values. As a result of both spatial model, the areas with the greatest erosive potential were identified. Consequently, it is suggested that soil conservation management practices be established for the upper sub-basin and agricultural activities be managed for the lower sub-basin.
