Since 2015, the raw cocoa bean product: Others, which are not considered for seeds, had an approximate participation of 95% in the volume and in the FOB value of the total exports made in all tariff subheadings of cocoa beans. In other words, this type of cocoa beans was the most exported at the national level. Based on the analysis of data from the Veritrade source, it was found that the Netherlands is the main importer of Peruvian cocoa and is among the main importers of cocoa worldwide. This country of destination had a decrease in its imports of 47% of the total FOB value, between 2015 and 2021, of Peruvian cocoa with the SNA 1801001900. The certifications for agricultural products show good handling of the product throughout the production chain with respect for the environment and respecting the rights of workers, promoting the development of the communities involved. All this generates differentiation of these agricultural products compared to non-certified (conventional) products and entails a different perception of value by end consumers. This research aims to understand how Organic and Fair-Trade certifications influenced the export of cocoa beans to the Netherlands during the years 2015-2021. The Netherlands is the main importer both in Peru and worldwide of this product; therefore, this market was selected for analysis. The product to be analysed is classified under item No. 1801001900, which has had a considerable drop since 2015 and has had a slight increase in the last year of the study, but without recovering the quantities that were exported before 2015. To achieve what was proposed with the research, the qualitative methodology was used since 50% of the analysed background used the qualitative methodology and the weight that these studies represent provide the basis for using said approach for the present investigation. Additionally, it is a precedent that the study seeks to describe and understand the phenomenon based on this foundation for qualitative methodology. The research design is of the descriptive type because it has a greater scope in the recognition of data that is analysed from the sample, such as its properties and important aspects. In the development of the research, the background, the problematic reality and the sector were analysed. Based on the phenomenon found, interviews were conducted with experts from both the private and state sectors. Subsequently, all the information collected was analysed to answer the research problem using the Atlas.ti tool. Finally, it was shown that there was an influence of Organic and Fair-Trade certifications in cocoa bean exports from Peru to the Netherlands during the years 2015-2021.
