This article addresses the reception of the application of the principles of andragogy in basic education during the COVID-19 pandemic in Peru. This study has a naturalistic vision, follows a research methodology with a phenomenological design and a qualitative approach. The analysis is approached from the application of a semi-structured interview as an instrument that is applied to twelve teachers from public and private institutions of regular basic education in Peru. Among the results, it was found that the teacher training process in the transition from formal to virtual education had many problems in its implementation due to lack of strategies and technological resources; In addition, the majority of teachers stated that they were not satisfied with the process overloaded with work and training that they faced; however, they had improvements in their media skills. In this way, the teachers manifested the absence of the principle of the horizontality of the andragogic principle, in contrast they developed the participation and synergy between teachers to be able to face the challenges. Likewise, the study shows that due to the complexity of this training and transition process, some teachers decided to drop out of their educational centers. These responses obtained provide information for forecasting teacher training in global catastrophe events such as COVID-19. According to the results obtained in this study, we can take a general look at the process of teacher training/training, evidencing a social, educational and digital inequality that has been going on for a long time in these educational systems, both in the public and private sectors.
