This paper analyzes the uses and gratifications of consuming ''Yo soy Betty, la fea'' from a female perspective. This telenovela was chosen, since it is the most viewed on Netflix Peru, remaining at the top for 54 weeks. What is sought is to be able to identify what are the needs that the young women satisfy in it in order to analyze the uses and gratifications that the soap opera offers them. The methodology is qualitative in approach and understands the phenomenon from the participants. For data collection, the semi-structured interview was used, with 20 women, all consumers of ''Yo soy Betty, la fea'', these data were coded in the ''Atlas.ti'' software. As results, regarding the needs, the gratifications of the needs were identified: the cognitive need allows them to strengthen the understanding of the soap opera; the affective need allows them to experience the emotions of the telenovela at the level of identifying with the characters and situations in it; in need of social integration they get in touch with family and friends over the years while watching the soap opera; the need for recreation satisfies their desire to release tension by recognizing that they watched 20 episodes a day in their spare time; and finally, the need for personal integration affirmed that young women are present on the networks, sharing soap opera content with others, maintaining a status. The research work seeks to understand why this phenomenon of rewatching a telenovela from more than twenty years ago and positioning itself as a favorite, having more series alternatives on platforms, contributing to the use of uses and gratifications theory for research. of audience studies.
