There are 2 roads that connect the cities of Huaral and Ancón, the first is called the Pasamayo variant and the second the Pasamayo serpentine. Among the two roads mentioned, the most sinuous with dangerous curves is the Serpentine Passageway. The sinuosity of the Serpentín de Pasamayo road has caused 52 curves to be considered in its layout and construction of the 22 km length. Of these curves, the so-called “Devil's Curve“ is the best known for the number of accidents that have occurred in the place. The main characteristic of the closed curve is the limitation of visibility that is generated for drivers who approach the curve from both sides. The limitation of visibility in the curve generates uncertainty in the approaching driver, since it does not predict the vehicular approach to the same curve in the opposite direction and therefore the insecurity to perform the turning maneuver. The execution of the turning maneuver is a delicate task of calculation, speed and concentration, especially when the road has high traffic flow and a road where only heavy vehicles travel. As a solution to the uncertainty of the driver approaching the curve, an electronic signaling system is proposed that uses traditional traffic lights adopted with vehicle sensors and located on each side of the curve. These sensors detect the vehicles and send the information to the traffic light on the other side of the curve, changing the green color of the traffic light to a flashing red color, this information is assimilated by the driver of the vehicle before approaching the closed curve. With the proposal installed, it would be giving valuable seconds to drivers since after processing the information they can take safe preventive measures until the vehicle that is approaching from the opposite direction passes and avoid a collision between vehicles on the sharp curve. Finally, for the validation and functionality of the proposal for the installation of the intelligent traffic light, a survey has been carried out on the drivers who use the route in question, with an approval of 85% of all those surveyed.
