In a context full of social movement and the emergence of the New Latin American Cinema, which purpose was a cultural decolonization and to show the reality of the countries from the region. (Chanan, 2014), in 1968 Perú was going through a coup which led to the beginning of the Revolutionary Military Government of Juan Velasco Alvarado. This government is considered one of the only military governments with left politics of the moment, because unlike all the military governments from Latin America that were defending the interests of the high class, this one had as its principal objective to make big social changes in benefit of the popular classes. During this period the government was looking forward to restructure social, economic and cultural aspects in order to build a more equal society among the people (Cant, 2019). Cultural issues began to be given more importance, and support as the government hired artists in state organizations, like the Group Liberación sin rodeos in SINAMOS. This group insisted on showing in their films a reality that wasn't seen by everyone. They were looking to show the ignored ones from a more human perspective. (Marcos, 2020) This paper seeks to reflect on the cinema of the group Liberacion sin rodeos in the context of the Revolutionary Government of Juan Velasco Alvarado, for which the interview will be used as an instrument. Two members of the group will be interviewed: Carlos Ferrand and Raúl Gallegos.
