The “Tunnel Liner“ is a system for tunnel construction in urban areas where the impact of the trenches generated by traditional systems in the excavation’s surface transit is eliminated. Therefore, a study was realized in relation to the environmental and socioeconomic impact of it along with a comparison between the usual trench versus the “Tunnel Liner” system where all the advantages and disadvantages are detailed. To carry out this tunnel construction, corrugated steel sheets are used which are easy to move by one person; then, the excavation in the ground is made, a first steel sheet is provided as protection, so the ring sections get completed. Once they are completed, the edges are sealed over the excavation and a mortar is injected to fill the space between the “Tunnel Liner” and the ground. This construction can be implemented for electricity installations, optical fiber, water, sewage, or any public network. Moreover, all the compiled information has been based on national and international standards.
