SMEs play an important role in the development of the global economy. In this sense, it is essential to identify the behavioral factors that could influence their success and/or failure. The objective of this research is to explain those behavioral factors in SMEs that impact the success and/or failure of these companies. For this, four chapters have been organized. In the first, it is defined what SMEs are for the different countries in the world, according to their sales levels, the number of employees they have and even the lines of business they present. Second, it analyzes the behavioral variables that SMEs present to make business decisions, from the perspective of various authors. Third, it identifies and explains that motivation and environment, entrepreneurship, family support, decisions, innovation and technology, creativity, discrimination, adaptability, and relationship skills and values are possible behavioral factors that entrepreneurs present and that can lead them to success and/or failure. Finally, it is stated that leadership and/or human resource management, willingness to pay, experience, education, learning skills, customer orientation and corporate social responsibility are possible behavioral factors that an entrepreneur should have. to obtain the desired success and avoid failure in an SME.
