In our society, the media are very consumed, especially television, which is the channel most used by Peruvians, given this, they broadcast certain programs, newscasts, movies, series, etc. These contents have something in common and they are the stereotypes that abound, the assignments to women and men, as in the case of women who consider them as “submissive, naive, weak, emotional, maternal instinct, housewife“, and the man as “strong, confident, hard-working, in charge of finances, the car, intrepid“. These stereotypes are associated with both sexes, assigning gender roles and are frequently disseminated to the television audience, causing a reinforcement of these prejudices. Likewise, these stereotypes produce a standard in the genre. For example, women are “taught“ that they must be thin, groomed and made up for any situation, in the case of men who are muscular and tall. The transmission of these prejudices is frequent, therefore, it is harmful to the public, since it does not allow individuals to talk or fully express themselves, in the way of how they think, not showing their emotions. In the case of boys, they are taught that the man is the one who will carry the money in the home or that they should not show when they cry, they should only cry once and that would be when their mother dies. Similarly, in the case of women not to consider themselves self-sufficient, independent and intelligent, etc. It is necessary to end, eliminate and exclude these gender stereotypes so that the person himself can be as he is.
