The medical internship is a period during which we get the opportunity to consolidate what we have learned in previous years and to be able of interacting with patients in different hospital services, thus taking on more responsibility by dealing with different cases. This work is a compilation of those cases that I believe had the greatest impact on my training process as a future health professional. The cases discussed below were collected between May 2021 and April 2022 at the Naval Medical Center “Cirujano Mayor Santiago Távara.” Objective: Describe and critically analyze the clinical cases I was able to learn from as a medical intern and that made a significant contribution to my training. Methodology: A descriptive and analytical work of the clinical experience obtained during the medical internship from May 2021 to April 2022. Results: A total of 30 clinical cases are reported, 6 of which are related to gynecology and obstetrics, 7 to pediatrics, 9 to surgery, including cases related to the traumatology rotation, and 8 to internal medicine. The most important lessons learned were always to see the patient holistically and as a whole, rather than just seeing the disease, and the value of doctor-patient communication. Conclusions: The experiences I acquired during the internship allowed me to properly complete this stage of my training, where I learned to see the patient as a whole, and never forget to bring the academic side together with the human side.
