The main mobility problems such as congestion and travel time delays are the main causes of citizen disgust in the world's city centers. These problems have attacked large cities, even those that are growing such as the city of Ica where the main problem is the excessive travel time that motorized vehicles have to travel in short sections through the city center at rush hour. This is mainly because of the presence of mototaxis, an atypical vehicle that generates congestion and traffic accidents. The present research proposes reducing travel time for those using motorized vehicles by switching to bicycles in the the downtown area and utilizing a bicycle section. In order to verify this improvement in travel time, a study of areas of influence and a survey were carried out that allowed us to know the section with the highest traffic flow for different users. The section chosen was San Martín Avenue from the block 1 to block 6 with a total of 740m approximately. In this section, data collection was carried out with a drone wich was used to obtain variables such as flows and vehicle composition, speeds, travel times, etc. These data were entered into the PTV VISSIM software to represent the current state of the study area through microsimulation, to later be calibrated and validated. Subsequently, the analysis of two scene was carried out to achieve a competitive mode of transport. The first scenario is the design of the bicycle section replacing a central separator. In the second scenario, the cycle road section was designed replacing a vehicular lane in the north-south direction. This made possible to compare the travel time of motorized vehicles traveling through the current state model versus the travel time of cyclists in each proposed scenario with exclusive lanes. The results show that scenario 1 has a bicycle travel time less than 5% compared to scenario 2. Furthermore, comparing the proposal of scenario 1 with motorized vehicles, it is shown that the travel time of the users of the bike path is 30% faster.
