Customs control has sought to remain at the forefront permanently against the fight against contraband that enters the country through different access areas. However, at present there are technological equipment that help the work of controlling and inspecting merchandise. Likewise, the country has X-ray scanners implemented in the Customs Complex of the Maritime Customs Administration of Callao and in the largest ports of Callao, which are DP World Callao (DPWC) and APM Terminal Callao (APTMC). The objective of this research study is to publicize the performance of non-intrusive controls in the definitive import regime for the identification of contraband in the Customs Complex of the Maritime Customs Administration of Callao in the period 2019-2020. For this, a qualitative approach was used using grounded theory. Likewise, it was possible to carry out structured interviews which were directed to expert professionals in the subject of study. As a result of the investigation, it was found that the performance of the use of the non-intrusive control of the definitive import regime in the detection of contraband is positive. In addition, it contributes to compliance with the regulations of trade agreements that are intended to facilitate foreign trade. Finally, it speeds up the release times of import containers, avoids cost overruns and makes inspection processes of containers entering Peruvian territory more efficient.
