In recent years, the competitiveness that exists in the pharmaceutical industry environment has been determined by a series of external factors, so it is very important to identify them. The present investigation focuses on knowing the external factors that limit the Competitiveness of the main importing companies (PA 3004902900) of the pharmaceutical sector in Metropolitan Lima 2019 - 2020. For this, a priori categories extracted from papers such as: the rise in the freight, the volatility of the exchange rate and the commercial negotiations between the buyer - supplier, which intervene in the international commercial exchange. The various literatures consulted indicate that there are external factors outside the direct control of the company that condition the competitiveness of the organization. In this scenario, drug importers of both raw materials and finished products must be prepared to face changes in the environment. Based on these sources, the objective arises to delve into the subject to know what the situation of the problem is. In this way, having knowledge of these factors will guide new importers and companies in the sector, obtaining knowledge to reduce the risks in their management. Using the qualitative approach with an exploratory scope to a subject little studied, it will be extended to interview 16 experts on the subject, both companies and unions, who have knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, the data was processed through the Atlas.Ti ® software. As a result, the study concludes that, effectively, the factors proposed as a priori categories limit the competitiveness of Peruvian importers of pharmaceutical products. Likewise, emerging categories are identified, such as high competition, deficiencies in the administrative procedures of DIGEMID and Customs, delays in international shipping, lack of port capacity in Peru, among others that are detailed in this study.
