This work categorizes the main contributions developed in the field of strategic communication in the International Journal of Strategic Communication (IJSC) and the Journal Of Communication Management (JCM), during the last 10 years. These contributions were considered based on the definition of strategic communication, the thematic lines and the new trends developed. For this purpose, the integrative literature review was used as the main methodology, under an interpretive research paradigm and a qualitative research approach. This helped us to describe, identify and understand the main scopes of the developed literature. The review resulted in the identification of strategic communication as a still emerging and holistic discipline, with a great contribution to the consolidation of the added value of the organization with its stakeholders; that is, with the fulfillment of its mission. Thematic lines were also found linked to the role of the communicator and administrator as the main leaders to materialize the strategies proposed by the organization, to a greater extent, with respect to the external context. However, a more specific definition of strategic communication would help differentiate it from the public relations mission and validate its role within organizations.
