Comprehensive sexual education policies constitute a mechanism to guarantee a responsible experience of sexuality, as well as to reduce the rates of gender violence. This research compares these guidelines for children between nine and eleven years old from Argentina, Chile and Peru. Using a systematized and comparative documentary review of the official documents of each country, convergence was found in the prevalence of content related to the identification of gender roles and stereotypes and knowledge of body development; as well as deficiencies related to sexual behavior and health. In Chile and Peru there is a preventive approach, while in Argentina it is oriented more to human rights. There are no explicit guidelines that address discrimination and violence due to sexual orientation and gender identity and it is suggested to explore the virtual context and insist on innovative policies that improve school coexistence in the region.
