Animated cinema in Peru is a very difficult undertaking to carry out, but despite this, there are producers who still persist in making their passion of making quality animated content come true in the country, as is the case of the film Condorito, based in a graphic cartoon created 70 years ago by the Chilean René Ríos Boettiger (1911-2000) 'Pepo'. A cartoon that has an immense popularity both throughout Latin America and in the United States and Canada, selling 1,300 million copies a year. This work provides antecedents of animated cinema in Peru, it also describes the search for financing, the production and distribution of this film that was a co-production between Peru, Chile and Mexico. In addition, interviews with the filmmakers to detail the problems they had to overcome and bring to the big screen this film that had a cost of eight million dollars, being classified as the most expensive animated film in the country.
