Background: Peru is a dengue endemic country and its control requires diagnostic techniques, but these require complex equipment and adequate infrastructure. The development of rapid tests has increased the rapid diagnosis of this disease. Objective: To determine the diagnostic performance of the SD dengue DUO rapid test (Injecta) for the detection of NS1, IgM and IgG compared to the ELISA test. Methods: This is a diagnostic test evaluation that included 286 serum samples from patients with symptoms attributable to dengue from endemic areas of Peru. Samples were analyzed by ELISA and the SD dengue DUO rapid test (Inject) for IgM, NS1 and IgG at the Institute for Nutritional Research in Lima. Results: The sensitivity of the rapid test evaluated was 68% for NS1 and IgM, and 86% for IgG, increasing to 75% and 81% for NS1 and IgM, respectively, in the first three days. The specificity for the three analytes was greater than 87%. The agreement of the results obtained measured by the Kappa coefficient for the three analytes was good and no cross reaction was found with other arboviruses. Conclusions: The SD dengue DUO rapid test allows detecting with adequate sensitivity and specificity NS1, IgM and IgG, increasing the sensitivity for IgM and NS1 when detected in the first three days of symptoms, so its implementation is recommended in first level care centers for an early and timely diagnosis.
