Over the years, different types of materials have been used in construction, such as mud, stone, adobe and others. These have been displaced due to the existence of other materials that provide greater resistance, such as concrete. However, for people with economic deficits, working with concrete can be costly and they are forced to use low-cost materials such as adobe. The main problem with adobe is its low compressive and tensile strength. For this reason, the use of wool fibre in the adobe units and the reinforcement of the masonry with ferrocement is proposed. In order to carry out the research it was necessary to study the soil in situ to obtain information about its physical characteristics. Then, an investigation of the quantity and length of the fibre was carried out. Samples of traditional adobe and 1% wool were then prepared and subjected to axial and diagonal compression tests. It is concluded that the implementation of wool fibre alone increases the compressive strength of the unit by 75%, as well as increasing the diagonal shear strength by 25%. On the other hand, the use of wool fibre with the addition of ferrocement in the masonry shows that there is an increase in axial compression of 64% with respect to the traditional adobe pile.
